The groundbreaking event was set to commemorate the beginning of the shelter project for supertyphoon Yolanda survivors and affected vulnerable and at-risk communities in coastal areas, cliffs and landslide-prone areas.
The resettlement site is named after the Hebrew word "Kibbutz" that means communal settlement. The HELP for Peace Kibbutz brings to fore a community where mutual aid, cooperation, just peace principles, communal ownership, equality and a drive for holistic growth and development of every person can be realized.
The groundbreaking ceremony was capped by laying of six time capsules containing letters for the future generations (and survivors of the present generation), same day-issues of tabloids and broadsheet newspapers, mementos, seeds and trinkets that will be opened fifty years after.
