Typhoon Ramassun (Glenda, locally) was relatively weak compared to Supertyphoon Huaian (Yolanda) with maximum sustained winds at 140kph with gusts up to 170kph. It headed Northwesterly since it hit landfall in the Philippines. Most of the areas affected are In Southern Luzon and Metro Manila. It left the Philippine area of Responsibility around noon today (July 16, 2014). There is still massive flooding around Metro Manila and Luzon.
Power was cut-off and all classes at all scholastic levels were suspended. All light and metrorail transit are still inoperable.
As of this evening, 20 people are dead due to getting hit by falling trees, by roof, pinned by the roof, drowning and heart attack. Seven were reported injured either by getting hit by fallen trees and by electrocution. Five were reported missing.
There were not much additional damage to Yolanda affected areas. Near the base of operation of HELP for Peace in Negros Occidental, there was a reported capsizing of fisherman's boat. Two persons were rescued and are now safely admitted in the hospital.
